His & Hers.

The Girls.

I was going to let each girl pick their own dress as long as the color was right. But once I met with the seamstress, we all decided that she would make each of their dresses. This way each girl can have exactly what she wants and the color will match! My BMs decided to go with a long, light satin dress, and each neckline will be different for each girl. Sierra (MOH) will be in "Paprika" or a burnt orange, and Lonnie & Nikki will be in an eggplant.  Below is a rough sketch of the dresses, and an image of the color swatches.

*The color swatches are not exactly true color due to my camera skills, but it's close enough.

Flower Girl.

I wanted something simple for our flower girl, and I found this beautiful dress from the Baby Gap!

The Boys.

They will be in all black suits with colored ties. Chris will have a white tie, Luke (BM) will be in an orange tie and Nate, Grant & William will all be in purple ties.

Ring Bearer.

He will be stylin' in a Volcom shirt, black pants and DC loafers. He didn't want to be in (as he puts it) a "monkey suit".

My Hair & Makeup.

So I finally found someone who was available to do the hair and makeup for my bridal party! Below are the pics from my trial. I think it turned out great. I wanted something more dramatic for my makeup since my dress is more on the simple side. I also thought it would be fun to play with purple. My hair turned out really pretty too, and held up pretty nicely during the day. I'm happy!

My Shoes.

I just bought a new pair of shoes for the wedding. So below is Old shoe VS. New shoe.

New shoe wins because it has more than a strap in the back!

Update - 10/6/09

Since I have decided to forgo the lace jacket on my wedding day, I thought I needed a statement necklace to bring something to my overall outfit. Lucky for me Chris's cousin makes gorgeous jewelery! She will be making me a purple necklace for the wedding day! She'll be using a variety of beads and materials in my new necklace. I'm excited to see what she creates! I'll still wear my other pearl necklace on the rehearsal day though. :)

Below are some picture of my beautiful necklace that was created by RachelleD at her Etsy shop! I love how the bird theme is being carried out through this necklace as well. I went with simple freshwater pearls since my dress is a little more elaborate with the lace up top. I'll also have pearl studs for my earrings.

Please check out RachelleD's shop at Etsy - she does beautiful work!

Update - 10/17/09

After trying on my dress for the 2nd time, and my veil for the 1st, I noticed a lot of flaws that I didn't notice were there before. This was probably because I was actually trying on my dress in daylight instead of the evening so the light was better. Anyway I found that my veil was unfinished in 4 places - the veil was not sewn completely onto the lace edge so there were holes. One hole was even being held together by a safety pin. Not cool. Also when I tried it on for my H/M trial I noticed that it didn't sit and fall like a mantilla veil should. It was very poufy around the comb area.

As for my dress, there was a hole and fraying seam at the end of the zipper, and a huge snag/run across my butt from this hole. I also found some more fraying seams, blue marks on the inside, and the boning was not on the dart. Plus my jacket was in the same boat with loose strings, and the sash was not sewn completely to the jacket. All in all, I was scrambling to find a seamstress who could correct this, only to be told that she could not see me until 10/24 (which leaves 4 weeks until the wedding) and it may cost around $250, but because she has not seen it in person, she does not know the entire scope of the work. So I started to freak. Thank goodness David's Bridal opened here recently so I made an appt. to find a new dress.

Lucky for me we found two contenders:
And the winner is: the Ivory Lace dress! As soon as I put it on I knew this is the dress that I wanted to wear. I didn't want to take it off! For being off the rack, it fit really well! Plus it was on sale. Score! I also bought a new fingertip length Ivory mantilla veil to match. I love it, and I am so happy and relieved to have found something with only 5 weeks to go!

Update - 10/6/09

I have decided to not wear the lace jacket on my wedding day. It was just too much for the whole look. It was also a little hot, and for this Hawaii weather, I want to be as cool and comfy as possible. Plus, I think wearing the dress alone is pretty, simple and shows off my figure better. :)

UPDATE - 8/11/09

I finally got to visit my dress again! And it's almost done. I should be able to have it by September - hooray!

The Dress.

I knew going into this I wanted lace, some sort of sleeve and a mantilla veil. I wanted something with some flow, nothing too stiff. Plus I didn't want a long train, lots of "bling" or lots of fabric.
So after visiting almost every bridal salon on the island, my mom called me and let me know of a seamstress that was near her in Idaho. So we checked her out when I went up for a visit. I am sooooo happy my mom found her, because Shera was able to incorporate everything I wanted and more!

Shera designed a light satin, white, simple dress that is just tight enough to show off just enough of my curves. Over that will be a lace jacket with a white sash. And my favorite is my chapel length mantilla veil! Shera is going to use the same lace on the jacket and veil so it will match!

What is pretty cool about the design is that I can wear the jacket after the wedding! Yay for re-use!

Here is a sketch of what Shera came up with. Also there are some photos of the lace jacket (the dress underneath that jacket is not what mine will look like)
